  1. Acid erosion: Acid erosion occurs when the enamel is worn away by acid, making the teeth more prone to damage. Over time, poor enamel can cause small indentations or pits on the surface of the teeth leading to tooth sensitivity, discoloration, and even cavities.
  2. Cavities: Even if your teeth look healthy, there may be cavities present that are not visible to the naked eye. When the acid produced by bacteria erodes the enamel, tiny holes or cavities are created in the tooth. Ignoring cavities can lead to severe pain, sensitivity, and even tooth loss.

3. Dry mouth: A lack of saliva in the mouth can result in dental problems like tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. Medications, medical conditions, or treatment side effects can cause dry mouth.

4. Tooth decay: This occurs due to harmful bacteria in the mouth that produces acids, which attack the teeth’s enamel and dentin layers. A diet that is high in carbohydrates and sugar or a lack of fluoride in water can increase the risk of bacterial infection.

5. Gum disease: This develops when bacteria in tartar and plaque build-up on teeth and gums, resulting in inflammation, bleeding of gums, and tooth loss. Gingivitis is the early stage of gum disease, which causes red, swollen, and bleeding gums, while periodontitis can cause gums to recede from the teeth, exposing the roots and causing tooth sensitivity, infections, and eventually tooth loss.
